I think I got into photography
because I was born with bad eyesight.

No one had noticed until I ‘came out’ with my nearsightedness as a teenager. I had been able to cope for so long by approaching things up close, being attentive and taking in details as much as I could. Depending on my mind rather than my eyes in perceiving the greater picture had composed it with a certain magic. Whenever I pick up a camera I try to recreate what I ‘saw’, how I 'saw' back then—when seeing used to really be about letting the light in.
